Tá Rosina Ní Leannáin i mbliain a sé i Scoil Chaitríona. Tá suim mór aicí i gcúrsaí ealaíne agus tá sí ag ullmhú portfolio oibre i láthair na huaire.
Chur Rosina a cuid smaointe le chéile maidir le cad a chiallóinn ealaín dí ina saol.
Seo thíos an sliocht a scríobh sí….
Tá leagan béarla le fáil tar éis an leagan Gaeilge.
I mo thuairim, tá ealaín an-tábhachtach don saol. Tá na mílte cúiseanna cén fáth go bhfuil sé. Mar shampla, cabhraíonn sé chun thaispeáint cruthaitheacht an duine agus is foirm é a ligeann tú féin a chur in iúl. Ach an cúis is tábhachtaí ná go bhfuil sé an modh is dian de indibhidiúlachas a bhfuil san domhan. Ar an gcaoi sin, tá ealaín cumhachtach. Chorraigh filíocht, dráma, ceol, péintéireacht agus rince ár mothúcháin. Bhogann na hEalaíona daoine. Bíonn tionchur ar ár hiompar agus ár gcarachtar. Athraíonn ealaín fíor dúinn. Fiú dheireann Plato go bhfuil ealaín dainséarach i a leabhar Republic mar bhí a Republic sochaí foirfe, cosúil le Útóipe, agus ní raibh an scriosadh de ealaín teastáil, murab ionann ár domhain.
Má ceapaim muidne go bhfuil saothar, seánra nó meán réadúil, go léiríonn sé an domhain mar a bhfuil sé, beidh ár bhfreagairt bunaithe ar an léiriú sin. Ach tá ealaín níos mion ná sin. Léiríonn na healaíontóirí a bpeirspictíocht ar scéalta a bhfuil siad ag iarradh béim a chur ar. Fiú i a gcoimisiúnta. Tá sé le sonrú san saothar ealaín An Airgid Ómós le Masaccio. San phictiúir, tarraing sé ár súile go Íosa san lár dá bharr an pointe téaltaithe. Ar an clé, tá Peadar ag thógáil bonn as an béal d'iasc agus ar an dheis, tá Peadar ag íoc an cáin chun dul isteach san bhaile. Bhí a bhformhór mór d'ealaín bunaithe ar scéalta ón Bíobla nó scéalta clasaiceach. Na saothar healaíne is fearr a thaitin liom riamh ná The Opening of The Sixth Seal le Francis Danby agus The Birth of Venus le Botticelli.
An leabhar leis an théama ealaín is fearr liom ná ‘The Painter of Our Time’ le John Berger. Tá a lán íomhanna a bhfuil ábhar machnaimh ann agus leanann sé an aistear an ealaíontóir. "Art begins, if the wind is right and the sails are properly trimmed, at that point where we forget our destination and purpose of our voyage- art begins when we can dare to be detached- both painter and viewer! True art is only born of risk- the risk of yielding to extreme irresponsibility in the midst of a life compelling us to accept one more responsibility after another." An céad uair a chuala mé faoi an leabhar seo ná nuair raibh mé san rang líníocht bheo a dhéanann mé taobh amuigh den scoil. Léigh an múinteoir sliocht ó an leabhar agus bhí mé i ngrá ar an toirt leis an leabhar. Anois, d'úsáideann mé an leabhar mar inspioráid do m'ealaín.
Mar fhocal scoir, ba mhaith liom a rá tá seo ach spléachadh a bhfuil agam d'ealaín agus conas a spreagann ealaín dom. Tá fós a lán agam le iniúchadh a dhéanamh ar stíleanna, meáin, théamaí agus ealaíontóirí. Ceapaim go bhfuil sé riachtanach go déanann daoine a iniúchadh féin ar an doimhneacht de ealaín agus gan eagla a bheith orthu chun turgnamh a dhéanamh le stíleanna agus meáin. Ceapaim go bhfuil sé dodhéanta chun stíl amháin a beith agat do gach uile meáin. Ba chóir de gach meáin stíl féin a bheith aige.
Béarla:
I think that art is so important in life. There is an unlimited amount of reasons why. It helps display one's creativity and it is a form that lets one express themselves. But most importantly, it is the most intense mode of individualism that the world has known. Thus, making art powerful. Poetry, drama, music, painting, dance, all stir up our emotions. All of the arts move people powerfully. They can strongly influence our behaviour, and even our character. True art effects people and changes them. Even Plato goes so far as to say art is dangerous in his Republic because his Republic was a perfect society, a utopia, and didn't need the changing effects of art unlike our world.
If we think that a work, a genre or a medium is naturally realistic, that it portrays the world just as it is, then we are bound to believe that our reactions to the world will be determined by our reactions to its representations. But art is more in-depth than that. Art portrays the stories that the artist wants convey through his/her own personal opinion. Even in their commissions. This is seen in The Tribute Money by Macassio. In this painting, one is drawn towards Jesus in the centre because of the vanishing-point. Jesus and Peter are pointing to the left where we see Peter taking a coin out of the fish's mouth. Then on right we see Peter paying the soldiers the tax to get into the city. The vast majority of stories in paintings have biblical or classical themes. Two of my favourites are The Opening of The Sixth Seal by Francis Danby and The Birth of Venus by Botticelli.
One of my favourite books on art is A Painter of Our Time by John Berger. It has a lot of thought provoking imagery and the personal journey of the artist. "Art begin, if the wind is right and the sails are properly trimmed, at that point where we forget our destination and purpose of our voyage- art begins when we can dare to be detached- both painter and viewer! True art is only born of risk- the risk of yielding to extreme irresponsibility in the midst of a life compelling us to accept one more responsibility after another." The first time I heard of this book was in my Life Drawing class, the teacher read out an extract from it and I was instantly in love with the book and now I use this book as an inspiration for my art.
In conclusion, this is just a glimpse of the love I have for art and how it inspires me. I still have loads to discover especially with styles, mediums, themes, and artists. I think it is important that one explores the depths of art themselves and not to be afraid to experiment with styles and mediums. In my opinion, it is impossible to have only one style for every medium. Each medium needs its own style.
